Hi.

What (mechanical) format does the "multimedia port" in the Passat glove compartment have?

Is it a 3.5mm jack, which would be the most sensible option?
Or a chinchilla?
Or something completely crazy?

Okay, here's the translation:

It should be a 3.5mm jack.

Oops, that's new to me too...
Does that part then connect to the plug of the power adapter?
Does this also mean there's no iPod or USB connection?

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH totally missed it...

Well, I'm going to renovate everything anyway, at least in my imagination icon_smile.gif.

Thank you.

Yep, it's definitely a 3.5mm jack socket.
Unfortunately, this also means that the glove compartment light will no longer function.
That information hadn't been published yet when I ordered my new one.
I'm rummaging around in the dark drawer.
The housing where the socket is mounted has the exact same dimensions as the glove compartment light and is installed in its place.

Best regards.

Maxx,

- How is the socket addressed? In other words, what does the radio display when it's connected to it?

- Would it be possible to retrofit the lamp if the socket were changed?
Are all the other parts installed, or is the switch for the glove compartment light also missing? Or how is it wired?

At least I knew that there wouldn't be any light inside. But I've never had that happen before, or at least I don't think I have, because I've never needed to check.

I hadn't removed the socket yet.
Unfortunately, I also don't know how the lamp is wired.
I will check the repair manual or wiring diagram tonight to see if there's anything relevant.
I definitely want to retrofit the light fixture.
The dark glove compartment is actually quite unpleasant.
You always have to turn on the reading light for the passenger side when you need light.

The socket is activated by pressing the "CD" button twice.
The display will then show "AUX IN".
I've also noticed that I can hear a whistling sound coming from the speakers in this mode.
Something probably isn't properly disconnected.
I still need to find out if it's the whistle from LIMA or something else.

Best regards.
Maxx.

According to the wiring diagram, the wiring for the glove compartment light is not optional.
The switch is mounted separately from the lamp.

Golf V and Passat 3C
There are two versions of the lamp and the light bulb, and which version applies depends on the FIN (Federal Identification Number).

HI.

If you're really interested, I'll take apart my sister's 3C this weekend icon_wink.gif.
She has a light in the glove compartment.

However, I have to be careful, because she always reacts very irritably when I approach her car... she knows me too well icon_wink.gif.

I have found the tracking numbers and prices.
I've added them to the previous post.

Here are some pictures of the installation location of the 3C:

Lamp:

Switch:

To access both compartments, it is not necessary to remove the glove compartment.

...which brings us to the massive upgrades we'd be doing anyway:

- Glove compartment
- Legroom
- Doors
