V6 TDI: Differences between engine codes AFB and AKN

Since I now own a Passat with the V6 AKN engine, I'm interested in knowing what the differences are compared to the AFB engine.

Hi,
The number of pump plungers in the radial piston distributor injection pump has been increased by one. This increases the maximum injection pressure. In addition, it features six-hole instead of five-hole injectors and an improved crankcase ventilation system.

At least the first two measures likely serve to comply with the EU III emission standard.
