Difference 1Z to ALH

Yes, I have read the technical articles and also used the search function for "Difference 1Z ALH".

Can someone briefly explain the differences to the o.g. Show motor options?

I own a Golf 4 from 2000 (ALH) and now also an Audi 80 B4 (1Z) from 1994.

When accelerating gently with minimal load, I notice that the 1Z engine runs very rough in the 1000-1500 rpm range, while the ALH engine runs smoothly.

Yep. I can only agree with the previous speaker. ALH does not have a secondary drive for the oil pump and the vacuum pump, and it has a VTG (Variable Torque Converter) charger.

Furthermore, the 1Z has different nozzles, as the ALH already meets Euro 3 (= YELLOW)...
