Hello,

"My engine hasn't been sounding quite right lately... I suspect there might be something wrong with the injectors. I was wondering where I could get the injectors cleaned. In my area, there are only two Bosch service centers, and one wants 100€, while the other doesn't offer the service at all. And the one that does it for 100€ only has a very old injector cleaning machine from before the war."
I've just been informed that you're supposed to have prints done in two stages... But I don't know anyone who actually does that.

Is it actually worthwhile? Or is it sufficient to just have it removed in the first stage?

And what is the acceptable difference in opening pressure between the nozzles?

Best regards,

For 6 nozzles, I paid approximately EUR 15.00 at a Bosch service center. Were your EUR 100 inclusive of installation and removal?

Only the opening pressure of the first stage is checked.

So, I also inquired with Bosch Diesel Service about the approximate price range.

- Inspect, clean, and adjust nozzles (including disassembly) --> approximately 100 €.
- Remove, inspect, clean, adjust, and reinstall nozzles --> approximately €200.

Oh, so the setup work was already included? My price was only for the inspection and adjustment.

"No, in my case, the nozzles were already removed and only needed to be pressure tested..."

Where did you have that done?

If I understand correctly, they must have an opening pressure of 190 bar. What is the tolerance for that?

1) Head to the next store.
2) It's already written there.
3) That's something someone who's familiar with the nozzles should be able to say.

"Why doesn't Boch sell individual injectors for the AFN, 1Z, etc. anymore, but only complete injector assemblies? They cost around €730. I'm one of those users who, for resource conservation (including saving money), wants to proactively replace the injectors after 180,000 km in the Sharan. In the past, you could go to a Bosch service center and, for something around €35 per injector plus labor for installation, adjustment, and sealing, prevent a costly piston damage. And now Bosch is actively preventing this, as the price of €730+ is almost equivalent to half the price of an AT engine."

Or, to put it another way, why does Bosch pursue a corporate policy that is harmful to customers, wasteful of resources, and damaging to the climate?

The exchange service offered here at the shop is very commendable, but how many regular workshops are aware of it?

Best regards,
Christian.

PS: I would like to install original 0.205 injectors in the AFN engine, as long-term durability is my priority, and the Sharan puts quite a strain on the engine.

Update.

I learned today that Bosch is not allowed to sell the injectors for the VW individually.
It should be possible to obtain a replacement for these parts from Mercedes.
Does anyone here have experience with which DC part number corresponds to the 0.205 nozzle?

Why does this remind me of the LMM story somehow?

Best regards,
Christian.
