Hi, is it true that the "older" TDI engine control units, supposedly from the 1993 models, didn't have an immobilizer integrated? That would be the ideal solution for me and my T3...
Thank you very much!

I'm also working on a project where I need to consider the immobilizer. So, the 028906021C should also work without an immobilizer. Because a friend of mine has an aftermarket immobilizer in his Golf TDI from 1994 (and if it's aftermarket, it must have worked without it before, right?). He has this extra button that he has to press to deactivate the immobilizer before the ignition plus is activated. Also, he can replace the 021C control units without having to program anything, etc. In my 1996 Pasi, I have a transponder in the key. This immobilizer works directly on the control unit. The 021C and 021D models definitely don't have them. I have both of them here!

That actually makes me a little happier. I'll check later to see what kind I have, and then I'll see where I can get one if I need it.
Honestly, I have little desire to mess around with immobilizers in the engine control unit... I simply don't need it .

Great! I have a C model, manufactured in 1994, but it shuts off after 4 seconds or even a little sooner, as if someone is cutting off the power. Could this be because not all the valves are connected yet?
Is there a list of what he needs to get running? It's clear that he'll initially need to go into emergency mode.
I am grateful for any response!

It smells very much like WFS. When it starts, it immediately shuts off again.
Once it starts running, it should keep running.
"And the 021C from '94 in my Golf definitely doesn't have WFS."
Do you have the original key from the donor vehicle?

no, I don't have a key, and I don't have any transponder stuff... unfortunately not . Is there anyone near Kiel who definitely doesn't have a WFS in their control unit? For testing?
Here's a picture of my sticker on the control unit...
mobile phone image, but recognizable... date is 09.06.94.
"This is all nonsense... but everyone says it's the WFS... even though it's such an old control unit..."
and now? t3 tdi project .....

What kind of wiring harness are you using? Is it the same one that was used with the 021C? I've compared wiring harnesses with (transponder in the key immobilizer) and without (or just with the alarm system), and I noticed a difference. In the older wiring harness, the relevant wires went directly to the central electrical system. In the newer one, one of the cables has a wiring distributor, and the other has the immobilizer control unit connected to it. I have to say that this information is provided without guarantee, as it was a while ago. I just wanted to point out that I noticed a difference. Wer Rechtschreibfehler findet, kann sie behalten !

The 4 seconds you're providing don't seem to indicate the WFS to me.
WFS is actually exactly 1 second, definitely longer than 2 seconds (measured from reaching the idle speed).
You're asking if it could be due to disconnected valves. Which valves are disconnected? I would say that simple components like the EGR valve, MAF sensor, and coolant temperature sensor probably don't have an influence. I'm not sure about the solenoid valve or similar components.

That's also less than 4 seconds. Altogether, it takes 4... start, run, stop... It actually runs properly for about one second.
Okay, so the wiring harness is also from the car, specifically for the engine control unit (ECU). What's not connected on my end yet is the AGR valve and the coolant pre-heater, as well as the pedal switches at the front. Otherwise, I think everything should be there.

Okay, then it's the WFS.
Expensive method: Find a tuner that can remove the WFS (Weather Forecast System) programming.
Affordable method: Obtain a WFS (Window Film System) key and install it. Used ones usually don't cost much because hardly anyone wants them.

Guste.

So, is it impossible to tell from the outside which model has a WFS (water-cooled fuel system) and which doesn't? My 021C is newer (October '94 - compared to the one mentioned in the post from June) and doesn't have one?
Very strange... I thought that all control units had a WFS starting from manufacturing date X.

Okay, so you now have the wiring harness and its corresponding control unit. There must be a connector somewhere where the immobilizer control unit was connected. Have you found it yet? I think you can find a reading coil with its control unit at a junkyard or on eBay. Or you could buy a different control unit. Those old things probably don't cost much. But whether it will work with the wiring harness is questionable... Wer Rechtschreibfehler findet, kann sie behalten !

Control units without WSF are in high demand. The modifications are becoming more frequent, and the technology is becoming less complex. With a wiring diagram and a little effort, you should be able to manage everything. Which parts do you still need exactly? A WFS box? Which one?

"My wiring harness doesn't have any connectors anymore... it's completely cut and rewired. However, it's a simple task for my electrician to integrate the 'box'. I would then need everything, including the transponder unit with the corresponding keys programmed onto it."
Does anyone have one? My local junkyard doesn't have it... unfortunately. If they did, I would have already gotten it. t3 tdi project .....
