No AC Car: Driving Without Air Conditioning

Hello,

Since my Passat was "kissed" by a deer crossing the road at 90 km/h, both front radiators are damaged (water and coolant) .
If I reinstall both radiators now for a trip to the paint shop, can I drive with the empty refrigerant circuit of the climate control system without any problems, or will something break?
A friend of mine mentioned that the pump for the refrigerant circuit is constantly running, which could potentially cause damage.

What is the truth, really?

The climate compressor (or the pressure sensor ) detects the lack of pressure in the system, and the unit cannot be activated. Even if you turn on the air conditioner, the magnetic clutch does not engage. The system is not working.
