Hello.

I noticed oil leaking from my intercooler. Then I removed the charge air hose all the way to the throttle body, and it too was oily.
I'm pretty sure that means the turbocharger is leaking oil.
However, it doesn't exhibit increased oil consumption, and there's no visible white smoke in the exhaust.
Does anyone have any other ideas or similar experiences? Are there any instructions available for replacing the charger?
It's a Volkswagen Golf 1J, engine power 74 kW, manufactured in December 2001, engine code: AXR.

Thank you in advance.

Hello.

"That's perfectly normal. My car has it too, and all the TDI models I've seen have oil in the intercooler hoses, and sometimes quite a bit! A small amount always makes its way through the turbo, but it's not a major issue." It only becomes a serious problem when the oil consumption is significantly noticeable on the dipstick.

Therefore, I wouldn't dwell on that matter any further at the moment.

Sure, here's the translation:

"MFG" is an abbreviation for "Mit freundlichen Grüßen," which translates to "Sincerely" or "Best regards" in English.

Check the crankcase ventilation system into the intake manifold; the oil vapors from the ventilation system are causing most of the mess.

A few drops of oil accumulating on joints and pipe connections often look quite alarming, even though it's usually perfectly normal.

My HDi has absolutely no oil consumption; before every oil change, my dipstick shows the same level as when it was initially filled, and last time I even put in about 5mm above the "max" mark... After 1000 km, it was only running at its maximum setting, so it must have blown out the excess oil from the KGE (likely referring to a turbocharger or similar component).

Of course, even with normal fluid levels, oil vapors are released (only the droplets remain in the separator), and that's the messy part.
