Hello everyone,
I managed to get a fuel injection pump from a Golf IV. Somewhere in this forum, I read that the control unit (console) from an AHH should be compatible if you want to use the pump with a 1Z/AHU/AFN engine.
Is the engine block (presumably an 827 model?) from the AHH (which was used in Passats manufactured between 1999 and 2000) actually externally identical to, for example, an AFN (manufactured in 1997)?
Or, to put it another way: Is the AHH still the same engine block as the older models like the 1Z/AHU/AFN (approximately from 1997), but with a modified bracket that can already accommodate a pump with a two-piece impeller?
Thank you very much.
Best regards, Gunnar.

Hello Gunnar,
As far as I know, the AHH is built to the same specifications as the AFN or ALE.
However, the part number of the engine block is different, and I don't know why.
The cylinder heads are identical. It's definitely an 827 block.
"I had a similar modification done on my G3 back then, and I wanted to replace the pump along with its bracket."
installing an ALH automatic transmission would also offer certain advantages during a timing belt replacement.
What's the problem with replacing the impeller? Then the G4 pump, with its old AHH impeller, could be directly connected to the AHH system.
Or were the pumps or the wheels different? You still need to figure that out.
Best regards,
Thomas. -----------------------------------------------------

Hello,
'This weekend, I successfully installed the fuel pump from a Golf 4 into my Golf 3. My car is running well now. However, the pump still needs to be fine-tuned. I simply didn't feel like doing that last night. The injection timing was slightly too early, but it's acceptable for now.'
Okay, so let's talk about some details regarding the renovation.
- Timing belt failure.
- old pump removed...
- Console out.
- verschandeln new console
- Installed a new fuel pump (for a VW Golf 4).
- Bend the intermediate panel to fit.
- Reinstall the timing belt.
Modify a 10-pin connector to become a 7/8-pin connector with an additional 3-pin section.
- Carefully bend and glue the timing belt cover to prevent chafing.
Basically, the console from AHH is identical to those from 1Z/AHU/ALE/AFN. The only difference is that the bore which guides the pump is larger. I think I measured it as being about 68mm in diameter, but I'm not entirely sure because it was very late when I did.
For my bus (with an air-cooled engine), which I plan to modify, I'm simply going to have the existing console widened to fit. It's cheaper than buying a console from a Volkswagen AHH.
Proceed as follows:
Pump: VW AUDI part number: 038130107D, Bosch part number: 460404977 (from a Golf 4).
Console: 028130147M from AHH.
Engine: 90HP TDI (ALE), manufactured in 1998, for a Volkswagen Golf 3 (engine code 827).
I was inspired by the article /viewtopic.php?t=2649&highlight=ahh+konsole.
The renovation went well.
It's particularly interesting to find such a project when you come across a pump with an 11mm plunger.
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Best regards, Gunnar.
