Hello!

I have a question about speeding ---> I got flashed by a speed camera.

The car is a Volkswagen Golf 3 TDI with an AFN engine and winter tires.

What would be the expected deviation at approximately 130 km/h?
If someone has spare tickets, I would be grateful.

Best regards, D.

Hi.

In area 130, I estimate the speed difference to be approximately 6 km/h.

My speedometer reading in that area was determined using a stopwatch and the distance markers on the highway.

Hello!

I hope it's like that – otherwise, I'll end up having to pay a fine. PLEASE, PLEASE, speedometer...

How significantly can winter tires of a different size affect things - I believe they are 175-65-R14 (I don't want to go into the garage to check).

Best regards, D.

Hi.

175/65 tires are slightly larger than 185/60 tires.
With standardwheel circumference, they are approximately 1 km/h faster at 130 km/h compared to the 185 models, meaning the speedometer error is reduced by 1 km/h.

However, this is overlaid with a permissible size tolerance of icon_smile_thumb_up.gif.5% / -2.5%, meaning that this 4% uncertainty translates to approximately 5 km/h at a speed of 130 km/h.

So, if your speedometer, which is calibrated to display 185 km/h accurately, shows 136 km/h instead of 130 km/h, then with tires of size 175, the actual speed within the tolerance range would be approximately 128 to 133 km/h.

However, typically, a few percentage points of measurement tolerance are subtracted from the measured result, in favor of the driver.

Hello!
At least up to a speed of approximately 75 km/h, a fixed amount of 3 km/h is deducted, rather than a percentage. I don't know how it works at higher speeds on highways and country roads.
Subjectively, the speedometer error was often quite large for me, meaning that if I was caught speeding at approximately 75 km/h (which unfortunately happened more often icon_evil.gif), the measurement showed 67-68 km/h, and then a flat deduction of 3 km/h was applied.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Sure, here's the translation:

'Hey guys' or 'Hey friends' (informal)
