Reprogramming AFN MSG for 1Z

If I'm going to need a modified dataset anyway (let's call it "chip tuning" for simplicity), can I upload the (modified) dataset from a 1Z engine onto an existing MSG module from an AFN engine?
1Z and AFN, both equipped with MSA15 and WFS.
Background:
I converted an AFN engine to a 1Z and am currently using a 1Z MSG (engine control unit). However, I still have the original AFN MSG. Would it be possible to use this as an "alternative" MSG with an adjusted data set?

As far as I know, the 021 GG is a replacement for both 1Z and AFN, and it's also compatible with an MSA15, so it should work.
