Head poetry and vortex chambers AAZ

Hi,
I just found an invoice from 1997 for my Golf III AAZ, which was manufactured in April 1993. Back then, it received a new head gasket. I've always wondered whether I now have the newer, reinforced version or not.
The following parts were installed:
028 103 383 BJ - Cylinder head inspection: 75.00 DM.
028 103 391 m - 4 times fire deployment.
Can someone tell me if these are the new parts that are supposedly supposed to be more durable?


and one more thing:
068 117 021 BX - Oil cooler - 80.50 DM.
'Huh, does the AAZ engine come with an oil cooler from the factory, or did VW think it would be a great idea and install one for me? I haven't found it yet!'

I believe that component is some kind of oil/water heat exchanger, meaning it's designed in a way that the two media can exchange heat, or that the oil can be cooled by the colder water.

Jap, das ist es definitiv. Das nahezu viereckige Teil das zwischen Ölfilter und Stutzen geschraubt ist schimpft sich Ölkühler. Nach längerer Zeit neigen die Dinger dazu 'zuzukalken' und ein Austausch tut bestimmt gut, gekostet dürfte das Ding ca. 100,- DM haben? Im TPlease provide at least.

However, this is also beneficial because the warm coolant heats up the cold oil, and vice versa.
