Hi,
I am looking for a replacement for my ASV MSTG 038 906 012 AP (110PS-TDI, WFS2) from a G4.
The question is to what extent I can also use Skoda, Seat, or Audi MSTGs (presumably referring to a specific type of component or module). What should I pay attention to? The ASV (presumably referring to a specific part or system) was installed in quite a few models.
Specifically, I'm currently interested in parts with the numbers 038 906 012 CL (for the Octavia) and 038 906 012 BB (for the A3).
I would also be grateful for any suggestions for other suitable numbers. Maybe someone can help me.
Best regards, Erik.

Where MSG (modules/components) are interchangeable between VAG (Volkswagen Group) brands, they generally have the same part numbers.
More recent MSG part numbers for seemingly unchanged engines often indicate minor changes, such as the introduction of OBD-AU, a change in the WFS generation, or similar modifications.
Therefore, it would probably require a lot of luck for your exchange plans to be realized without any problems (aside from the usual adjustments needed for the WFS). Gruß Ulf

Hello,
I once swapped a 038 906 012 AT for a 038 906 012 BB. The car ran without any problems.
However, the error memory showed a 'Crash Signal Airbag' error, and it could not be cleared.
The Skoda device might have a different WFS, but the specialists here can confirm that.
It's definitely better to say that.

Thank you for the answers...
@ ulf
It's clear that it needs to be linked to the WFS. What surprises me is that, within the same production period, each manufacturer uses a different number for the MSG.
@ Achim
The AT was used until 2001, and the BB was used from 2001 onwards (like the CL). That's quite promising. Perhaps the error entry originates from an airbag deployment??

You might get lucky with the 012BB. The 012CL is quite different.
(different software base; possibly WFS3).
Best regards,
Rudi
