Polo MJ 2001
Automatic Transmission Malfunction. Does not shift into 4th gear. Group
Kick-Down not functioning
Cause:
Due to disruptions on the CAN bus, the transmission control unit enters emergency mode and remains in this operating state. The faults occur when a Bosch (BOO) instrument cluster is installed and data exchange between the immobilizer and the engine control unit takes place via the W-line. (See Immobilizer Diagnostic Tester: In the display group 1, the Baud rate field must not be CAN-Bus, but a number.)
Solution:
Disconnecting the battery. The error in the gear control unit is cleared, and no short circuit can occur in subsequent work on the vehicle's electrical system.
Removing the large 10-pin connector from the ignition interlock control unit.
The control unit is located below the dashboard, in the area of the steering column.
Remove the T10k/1 (orange/brown) and T10k/2 (orange/black) connectors from the plug. Subsequently, wrap the contacts, bend back and fix to the wiring harness. Tschüss
