"Transport" is displayed on the radio screen, and "Transport Mode" is displayed on the central display of the dashboard insert. The interior lights do not function when the door is opened.

Cause:
To optimize the charge balance of the vehicle battery, certain electrical components (radio, interior lights, etc.) are switched off in new vehicles during transport from the factory to the delivery center, starting with the 2002 model year. This is known as... The transport mode is activated at the factory via the radio and the control panel switch.

When the transport mode is activated, the radio does not function; instead, it displays "Transport" for 10 seconds after being turned on. The door entry lights, trunk light, and interior lights do not activate when the doors or tailgate are opened. The interior light only illuminates for approximately 35 seconds when the ignition is turned on. "Safe-LED" is not being activated.

In the dashboard display, instead of showing "OK" after the ignition is turned on for 5 seconds, the message "Transport Mode" is displayed. The (radio-controlled) clock is not activating.

Solution:
During the acceptance inspection, the transport mode must be deactivated. This is done for the radio (address word 56) and the control panel (address word 17) in the "Adjustment" function (10) of the diagnostic tester. In both devices, the adaptation channel 99 must be set from "1" (transport mode active) to "0" (transport mode disabled).

Note: In the circuit breaker panel, the transport mode will automatically reset after a distance of 50 km.
