Electric/Manual Window Regulators: Compatibility (35i)

Hello everyone,

On my Passat, the teeth of the window regulator mechanism on the driver's side are worn out at the top end stop.
Now, the question for me is whether I should buy a manual window lifter (because it's cheaper) and then simply reattach the electric motor instead of installing a manual crank?

Hi.

Unfortunately, you have to purchase the lifting mechanism separately for the EfH, and they cost around 75 euros from Auweh.

However, if you are technically skilled and have the right tools, you might be able to rotate the damaged wheel by 180 degrees, so that the damaged teeth are at the bottom.

It might also be possible to weld the worn-out teeth and then grind them back into shape using an angle grinder.

Thank you for the response. I'll stick with buying from a reputable source then. When you look at the prices for used front left lifters on online marketplaces, a new one costs almost 75€. Plus, I'm getting a 20% discount.
