Hi.

Are the rear hatch locks on Volkswagen vehicles generally similar?
Can I, for example, use a latch from a used Volkswagen Golf 3 Variant to replace the latch in a Volkswagen Passat 3C?

I want to build a sturdy adapter so I can drive with the valve partially open sometimes.
I need a wedge and a lock for that, and preferably at a reasonable price, so used would be ideal.

"Thank you."

Hi Martin,
From the gut - no.
My dog leash clip, which fit perfectly on the G III, only fits with...
to probe and thread, to latch on.

Best regards, Micha.

Hmm.

30 EUR for an organic 3C lock (with a 1K number icon_smile.gif) would still be acceptable.

Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

Similar, but with a threaded fitting in the middle.

Okay,

The wedge is 13 mm thick. I should be able to get something like that welded together.

The entire arm should be 80 cm long (or adjustable). At this maximum length, the flap is horizontal and already starts to move in the open direction, so it shouldn't rattle too much (the Sportline suspension will still handle it icon_sad.gif).

I'm still unsure about how to connect the locking mechanism to the vehicle's latch. I'm wondering if a simple "S" shaped connector will suffice, or if I should use a proper tailgate lock, which would fit much more precisely and neatly.
