Hello everyone.
I have a problem with my car (A4/B5 V6TDi Quattro with AFB engine) where I sometimes feel like I'm braking against the engine when switching from the accelerator to the brake.
This manifests as the brakes working as usual initially, but after a few seconds, there's a slight jolt, and you can feel that the engine power is also somehow gone. (It's hard to describe, but I think it's understandable.)
Now, the AFB also features a dual-pedal brake switch, with a normally open and a normally closed contact integrated into a single housing.
IMHO, the device mentioned above has the function of 'disengaging' the engine during braking, so that you don't brake against the engine's force when the clutch is not depressed.
Some time ago, I adjusted the switch a bit during the installation because the brake light was coming on very late (at about half pedal travel), but it didn't really achieve much except for the brake light itself.
Both parts of the switch connect directly to the engine control unit, with one wire branching off to the brake light (normally closed).
My question is:
I read in this forum that an error message is generated when the switch positions are not the same; however, that is not the case for me.
It's possible that this error message isn't intended for this type of switch (since there aren't actually two switches to adjust).
'Has anyone ever experienced a defective switch like this before?'
Mechanically and electrically, everything seems to be in order. However, since the problem only occurs sporadically, it didn't help to disassemble and test the switch.
Or am I completely on the wrong track, and is this perhaps due to something entirely different?
I am grateful for any advice.

Stefan.
