Can MSA6 be read out?

Hi, I'm having a small problem. A friend installed a 1Z engine in his van, manufactured in '92 or '93. It seems the air mass sensor is connected to an MSA6 control unit. Is it possible to read out data from this control unit? If so, what kind of information can be retrieved and how? Someone at VW mentioned that the very first ones might still have a blink code system. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Bernd.

You can read the data, but it only shows a "MWB 0" value.

Can I read the error codes using VCDS (Vag Com)? Thanks for the quick reply, but I was already in bed.
