"Hi everyone, I'm having this strange problem where my car is making a humming noise. Yesterday, I unplugged the mass airflow sensor (MAF), and the engine runs better, but at the same time, the ESP and ABS lights come on. When I shift into reverse (R), it works normally, but when I shift into drive (D), the gear engages very abruptly, causing a lot of jerking – I thought the TT5 transmission might fly off. Why is it jerking, and why are the lights on? Is it the MAF sensor, the TT5 transmission, or the diesel pump that's faulty?"
I urgently need some tips.
Best regards, Harry.
AUDI A6 AVANT 2.5 TDI, 132 kW (179 hp), AKE (likely a specific equipment package), front scratches, automatic transmission (Tiptronic).
NAVI PLUS, CRUISE CONTROL, BOSE SOUND SYSTEM, SILVER METALLIC PAINT, ELECTRIC SEATS, etc.

The V6 TDI absolutely requires the mass airflow sensor (MAF), otherwise the TT5 will be damaged!!! If you are not sure whether this part is defective, use the search function and perform a test drive according to the instructions. This should provide information. But if you care about your vehicle, do not drive it any further without fixing it!

"Hi, yes, it jerks when I unplug the connector, but otherwise it runs great. The problem is that when I unplug the connector from the mass airflow sensor (MAF), the engine sounds like it's getting more air. It also happens when I disconnect the hose from the EGR or the VTG, because when all of them are connected, the car makes a strange humming noise, as if it's not getting enough air. That's why I wanted to see what it's like to drive without the MAF sensor, because I've heard that some people drive with the connector unplugged, and I thought I'd try it. It jerked when I had the lever in 'D', so I quickly plugged the connector back in. Can you tell me something about that humming noise?"
Best regards, Harry.
