"For the past 2 years, I've been having issues with the mirror adjustment on my B5. Occasionally, it only works in the X-axis (outwards) and the Y-axis (upwards). Sometimes, when I don't need it, it works perfectly."

It doesn't matter which position the switch is in. In position "x", the right mirror will move outwards, while in position "Y", it will always move upwards. Sometimes, the mirrors might only move upwards or outwards, depending on the vehicle's "mood." At this moment, the left mirror also no longer has a plausible function.

Unfortunately, it has always been the case (and it's happening again today) that the adjustment works perfectly whenever I get close to the vehicle with VagCom icon_mad.gif. The error memory is, of course, empty, and all functions are plausible through the measuring blocks.

"There are no cable breaks, and all other functions related to the comfort control module are working correctly. If I can't find the source of the problem, I will start by replacing the mirror switch, although I can't imagine that the switch itself is malfunctioning."

Does anyone have any advice?

Who knows the answer?

"In the previous models, the 35i and 3A, this issue was also frequently observed and was often caused by the switch."

Have you ever looked at the motors inside the rearview mirror housing and their wiring? There might be some chafing or damage there.
Regards,
Matthias.

Okay, last year when the mirror housings were repainted, I didn't notice anything. But the problem occurs on both mirrors. Still, thanks for the tip. I'll check it out sometime (if I have the time).

I just remembered something: Please check (if you haven't already) the rubber hose between the body and the door. In my case, there were already two cables that had passed through it - it caused a very interesting error pattern.

Hi Klaus,

The information is rather sparse icon_wink.gif.

How about the door locking mechanism and cable routing?

Regards,
Sure, here's the translation:

"Guste" is a German word that means "gust" or "gust of wind." It can also be used to describe a sudden burst of something, such as laughter or anger.

"You're right, Guste."
Nothing is working, no matter what I try. The fuse is fine, and the things that are fuse-protected are working. The cables will be checked at the next opportunity. I would have liked to swap the mirrors with working ones for testing, but I would have to remove all the trim to do that. The vehicle should be running.
Can I see the mirror adjustment function in VAG Com? And if so, where?

This happens in one of the measurement blocks of the comfort control system. In my case, they only worked when I connected to the vehicle using VAGCOM.
