Can the ball joint assembly be disassembled for cleaning? And what should I use to lubricate it after cleaning?
edit: I just received a tip that there might be problems with the shift cables; it seems that plastic guides have broken in some cases. I don't understand this hint at all; where should I start looking? Should I investigate on the transmission side or inside the cabin? |
Hi Matthias,
"In my opinion, you should be able to feel where the jam is located: If it's directly inside the ball, the gear lever will resist even the slightest movement, almost as if it's stuck in a vise."
When the control cables are engaged, the initial movement is relatively easy, but it becomes increasingly difficult until sufficient force is applied to move the entire facial expression mechanism.
I would verschandeln the ball bearing from above as thoroughly as possible (while shifting through all the gears) and then, while shifting, check if any more rubber debris from the boot becomes visible in the gap between the ball and the socket. If not, the ball is probably not stuck due to rubber debris.
