Hello there,
Since many people are experiencing problems with their LMM (likely referring to a lambda sensor or similar component), I thought it might be possible to address the underlying issue instead of just treating the symptoms (like using brake cleaner, diesel, acetone, carbon tetrachloride, etc.).
but perhaps to get to the root of the problem.
Further down, I read that fumes from the crankcase ventilation system can be responsible for the gradual failure of the mass airflow sensor (MAF). This is quite relevant to my AFN engine, as the MAF and the crankcase ventilation system are only about ~20cm apart.
From a technical perspective, would it be possible to close off the hole in the intake manifold (KGE) in the suction hose and instead use the hose from the 'Wonders' KGE system? I know it wouldn't be legal, but we can worry about that later. Frankly, I'm tired of having to buy a new mass airflow sensor (LMM) every year.

Hi.
I once had a basic idea, which was not yet fully developed in detail:
Install an electrically controlled valve directly upstream of the intake manifold opening, connecting it to the ignition circuit so that it opens when voltage is applied.
When the ignition is turned on or the engine is running, the knock control system (KGE) functions normally.
When the ignition is switched off, the valve closes. Overpressure in the crankcase should no longer occur because, when the engine stops running, there is no more combustion taking place.
The running engine still draws in a few liters of oil-free fresh air through the piping system, which ideally prevents any oil vapor from remaining in the intake system and potentially clogging the mass airflow sensor (MAF).
The principle could even be considered "legal," in my opinion... Gruß Ulf

'Not a bad idea! I had something similar in mind before, but I was thinking more about connecting the air filter's intake hose to the turbocharger. However, I discarded that idea because of the reduced airflow.'
The overpressure that might occur when switching off could likely be safely vented using a type of check valve. I'm just wondering if this whole issue can be solved with a check valve without needing any electrical connections.
Anyway, I think this approach is exactly right. And in this area, something needs to happen, at least for me, in the future.
