The new features of the electronic logbook cannot be used.
Cause.
In week 45 of 2001, additional features such as the Outlook address book and navigation destinations were added to the electronic logbook of the Navigation System Plus.
These destinations can be edited on a PC and then used for navigation via the trip recorder's card reader.
Within the affected vehicle identification number (VIN) range, older card reader units (control unit) with part number 4B0 919 817 were still installed. Therefore, the functions mentioned above cannot be executed.
Solution:
If the reader is equipped with part number 4B0 919 817, replace it with part number 4B0 919 817 B.
The following points should be noted:
- If the mileage log has already been activated, the card reader can only be replaced after the mileage log has been deactivated.
If this is not taken into account, all the data in the old card reader will be lost.
Procedure for an open mileage log:
1) Insert the chip card into the PC reader and press "Read chip card" - it will then display "Chip card is empty."
2) Insert the chip card into the vehicle and read the driving data.
3) Reinsert the chip card into the PC reader and transfer the data to the PC.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 until no more data is stored in the card reader.
Do not move the vehicle from this point forward. Turn off the engine and navigation until point 5.
4) Now, in the "Vehicles" menu (on the PC), select the relevant vehicle and click on the "Stop data recording" option. A "Close" command is now stored on the chip card.
5) Insert the chip card into the vehicle. The message "Trip log disabled" appears.
6) Read the chip card on your PC - done. The control unit is empty and deregistered.
Now, the card reader (control unit) can be replaced, and it can be reactivated as described in the instructions.
- Procedure for cases where a mileage log has not been opened:
No preparation is needed. The card reader (control unit) can be replaced. Tschüss
