Hello fellow car enthusiasts,

I plan to replace the entire cylinder head on my Passat.

Okay, here's my question: I have a complete cylinder head with everything that goes with it. The only thing that's giving me a headache are the PDE (presumably referring to a specific part or code). The replacement cylinder head has a part number that is identical to the old ones, except for the last two digits.

Old PDE: 038 130 073 AB

PDE in replacement head 038 130 073 AR.

My research has shown that parts with code "AB" were used until the end of 2001, and parts with code "AR" were used from 2002 onwards.

Now, I would like to know if I can use the new PDE without any problems, or if something has changed and I need to obtain the older version instead.

"Both parts are from an AVF engine."

The letters at the end are part of the part number, so it is NOT the same part!

No, because firstly, they have different nozzle tips (520 vs. 550), and secondly, the generation of the solenoid valves (1.1 vs. 1.3) is also different. icon_wink.gif
