Old MSA with 2x DIL28 - 16-bit?

Hi!

Hab da in unserer Werkstatt ein altes MSA.. ECU unearthed.
On the bracket (which thankfully was included), there is the part number TN 1H1 906 323.
"1H1" refers to a Volkswagen Golf 3. Since the pressure sensor is rated for 200 kPa and the control unit (STG) has a plastic housing, it should be an 8-bit version from the 1Z series.

What I don't quite understand is why an 8-bit microcontroller needs two DIP28 packages, or is it already a 16-bit device?

Please don't laugh, but my area of expertise is more related to EDC16 and EDC17 systems, not those old-fashioned mechanical calculators.

EDIT: The part number for the control unit ends with "021 Q".

The component also has two processors (8031 cores).
Background: The processing power of a processor is not sufficient .
One person is responsible for the engine control functions, while the other handles low-speed control and diagnostics.

The identifiers 2,287,358,699 and 2,287,358,698 might suggest "low" and "high" respectively, but this is not necessarily the case.

That means you have two separate files. One contains the injection parameters, and the other contains diagnostic information and LD (likely referring to "Load Data" or a similar term).

To keep things synchronized, there are also identification fields that are the same in both systems .
