Hello.
I'm having a problem calculating the speed in 3rd gear at 2000 RPM.
After calculating the tire circumference and its rotation speed, I get a result of 54.34 km/h (assuming the gearing is correct).
Today, my Climatronic display showed exactly 49 km/h.
Since these different values significantly distort the result, I would like to know which value I should use.
Perhaps you know my translation.

Passat, manufactured in May 1998.
AFN.
110 horsepower.
orig. Maximum speed: 196.
Weight: 1430 kg
Tires 225/50/16
allegedly 25 HP more with the BOX.

I don't know the translation for "AFN Passat."

Starting from the AFN engine in a Golf 3, which achieves 49.7 km/h with standard (!!) 185-size tires, I would consider 54 km/h to be too high for the heavier Passat and would rather trust the Climatronic system's reading.

If you want to know for sure, consult a reliable source for the gear data, or determine the actual value through thorough investigation.
"Set the engine to Top Dead Center (TDC), then advance the throttle as much as possible in 3rd gear (until it reaches TDC again) and measure the distance traveled with centimeter precision. From this, you can calculate the actual speed at 2000 rpm, taking into account any tires that deviate from the standard specifications."

I'll measure it sometime.
However, according to the Excel table, the values are approximately correct at around 49 km/h.
That's about 26% more power.

Hello again.

I now have the exact gear ratios for the Passat.

3rd gear: 1.226:1
Axle ratio: 3.889:1

That means the value of the Climatic control system is correct.
Therefore, in my opinion, the pull test is perfect.

Somit ist der Durchzugstest nach meiner Meinung perfekt.


If you consider the uncertainties regarding the permissible deviations from the tire rolling circumference (the standard deviation is already calculated, so enter the minimum and maximum values...) to be insignificant icon_wink.gif, then you are probably right.
