Passat 3B6 AVF: What Battery Type?

Hello everyone,

I currently don't have access to the database, but my colleague urgently needs information about the battery specifications (capacity, DIN designation) for a Passat 3B6 with engine AVF 96 kW from March 2001, which is equipped with Climatronic. It does not have a supplemental heater.

Can someone help me with this question?

I recommend a MOLL battery.
It's an OEM supplier, and if you can do without the VW logo, you can save quite a bit of money.

The dealer wanted around €190 for the A4 1.9TDI part, but I ended up buying the MOLL part for €135 including shipping.

DIN 58043, also DIN 5 80 043, is the designation used in the open market. It is 313 mm long and 175 mm high. This is the ideal battery for Passat B5 and B6 diesel models, as it cannot be longer. It's the largest size that fits. And it's often the original equipment (OE) battery that was installed.

Varta now also offers a Silver Dynamic battery with those dimensions, which provides 85 Ah of capacity.
