Diesel Leak: Faulty Fuel Shut-Off Valve

Could a mechanical fault in the fuel shut-off valve (VAG-COM error code 01237) be the reason for a significant diesel fuel leak after a prolonged period of inactivity (8 hours) of the car (Audi A4 TDI 1.9 81kw, engine code unknown)?

If by 'loss' you mean 'I found diesel fuel spread throughout the engine compartment.'

The valve opens a bypass from the high-pressure pump to the pump's internal chamber. It only functions as an emergency shut-off in case the flow control mechanism fails. It is screwed into the pump from the outside, so it could potentially leak outwards.

The friendly person wanted to tell me directly that the fuel injection pump would need to be replaced. Wouldn't it also be possible to get this valve from Bosch service and just replace that specific part?
