Hello.
Another silly question.
Just to fix all the mistakes.
According to the documents, my car has a curb weight of 1381 kg.
What weights do I need to take into account? icon_confused.gif
Is the stated weight without the driver, and with a full tank of fuel?
Or how? icon_confused.gif
I've already heard many different opinions about that.

Thank you very much.

Best regards, Alex.

There are two possibilities:

Previously, it was probably just the unladen weight. However, from a date I'm not precisely aware of, it's the unladen weight of the car plus 75 kilograms for a standard driver, plus a defined amount of fuel. This adds approximately 100 kilograms to the weight.

I have no idea where yours falls...

One approach would be to look at the Dutch homologation papers for the corresponding car model. As far as I know, they still use the older specifications. My 6K, which is listed with 1200 kg in all German databases, only shows 1100 kg there, both with basic equipment. And that's exactly the 100 kg difference. My car is registered in the German vehicle registration document with 1240 kg, and then another 40 kg of extras were added.

Best regards,

Jan.

Hey fellow diesel enthusiasts!

The term 'tare weight' is defined as follows:

'Curb weight of the vehicle (without driver).'

from [Robert Bosch GmbH's Automotive Engineering Handbook]

Hi!

Somewhere, there's a sticker with various information like consumption, license plate letters, and unladen weight.

Best regards,
Uwe.

My 1997 Golf is full (or 3/4 full?) of fuel, and the weight includes a 75 kg driver (total weight: 1195 kg). I believe that this is the new definition, and that the weight for your 1998 Passat was also determined in the same way.

Thank you for the answers.

Ulf, I think your report provided the most insightful answer.
Since my Passat is one year younger than yours, it's probably the reason.
Then this topic is also off the table, and the penetration test is now 100% icon_lol.gif.

Best regards, Alex.
