Hello professionals!
Da ich bei meinem A3 langsam mit meinem Latein am Ende bin und ich nicht weiß ob mich mein Gefühl für den Durchzug meines TDIs langsam verlässt probier ich es einfach mal mit einem neuen Thema! Seit geraumer Zeit kommt mir vor das mein A3 bei Überholvorgängen speziell im 4ten und 5ten Gang nicht mehr den Schub nach vorne macht wie er es eigentlich sollte. LMM is OK, Diesel- u. Luftfilter sind getauscht (auch keine Luftbläschen) AGR und VTG zeigen keine Fehler, keine Fehlerspeichereinträge. Mir fällt nur auf das der Motor bei knapp über 2000U/min etwas brummt (also geringfügig lauter ist) und ab ca. 2300 wieder ruhiger dreht. Hört sich aber nicht unbedingt auffällig an. Zuerst dachte ich es hätte mit den Winterreifen zu tun, doch jetzt nachdem ich wieder auf Sommerbetrieb umgestellt habe schaffe ich es eigentlich nicht unter 6l. Früher schaffte ich teilweise 5,3l - 5,6l!? Zur Überprüfung hätte ich gerne ein paar Werte für den Durchzugszeiten von 80 auf 120km/h im 4ten bzw. 5ten Gang gewusst. In welchem Bereich sollten diese ca. liegen. Hat vielleicht jemand eine A3 mit 110PS TDI (Bj.99) und kann mir Anhaltswerte geben? Vielleicht spinn ich auch und hab mich an die Leistung und den Durchzug meines A3s bereits so gewöhnt. By the way, I couldn't find any comparable values for my vehicle using the search function.

With my 5.1 seconds from 2000 to 4000 RPM, you probably can't do much with that information, even though my A3 is identical to your car except for a chip. But that chip makes all the difference!

The stated fuel consumption figures seem too high to me. Sometimes I manage to get below the 5-liter mark, and when driving quickly, it's around 5.5 liters.

Ist der LMM wirklich in Ordnung? Raucht Dein Auto? Luftfilter zu? Fehlerspeicher? Kraftstofftemperatursensor? Einspritzdüsen verschlissen? Ladedruck in Ordnung? AGR Ventil dicht? Is the intake manifold sealed?

What is your speed range from 2000 to 4000 RPM?

I've now taken some measurements from 2000 to 4000 RPM in 3rd gear (without air conditioning) and I can barely get below 7 seconds. While I can't really use your 5.1 as a comparison, I think I should be able to achieve around 6 to 6.5 seconds with my 110 horsepower. By the way, I manage to go from 80 to 120 km/h in 4th gear in about 8.8 seconds. Let's see, maybe I'll find something else. I'm going to get back to work this weekend. By the way, except for the fuel temperature sensor and injectors, I've already checked almost everything icon_confused.gif.

Why don't you enter the values into the Excel table? Then you'll know more.

I vaguely remember that mine was around 6.7 seconds without the chip, but I'm not sure about that. And we should actually have all the parameters the same (EBF transmission?). The best times with the chip were around 4.7 seconds!

What is the boost pressure? Could the linkage for adjustment be stuck? Is it emitting smoke? If there's excessive fuel consumption, it should be producing soot. Has the EGR valve been disconnected?

Okay, so my Golf, without any tuning, achieves the acceleration from 2000-4000 RPM in 8 seconds. I don't think there's anything wrong with yours icon_wink.gif. However, I do believe that the A3 is generally a bit more responsive than the Golf IV.

From 80-120 km/h (indicated 85-128), it takes 10.8 seconds. I tested it in both directions, with one person inside, approximately 50 liters of fuel in the tank, and a new mass airflow sensor."

So, your A3 should be performing a bit better now. Otherwise, as I suggested before, use the ventilation calculator.

I also have a question about using the drag calculator. Since my A3 has been chipped and increased from 90 to 116 horsepower: what torque value should I enter in cell E5, and what values should I enter in the columns 'calculated torque' and 'original torque' at the bottom? I've tried different values, and the times I get from the drag calculator range from 5.5 to 6.6 seconds...

Anyway, I tested my car yesterday and got an average time of 6.6 seconds – is that good or not?

existing data:
Original power: 66 kW / With chip tuning: +28%.
Torque: Original 210 Nm / Tuned (with chip) 285 Nm.
Original top speed: 180 km/h / With chip tuning: 191 km/h.
weight: 1360 kg
temperature 12°
Tires, size 225/45 R17.
gang reduction ratio 1.36
axle ratio 3.389

I think a fuel consumption of 6.0 liters per 100 kilometers is acceptable. I don't have an A3, but a Golf IV, with the same engine power (81 kW). I believe the vehicle weight isn't significantly different.
I mostly drive on the highway and rarely use full throttle for extended periods.
Since I have recorded every fuel fill-up with its corresponding consumption value from the date of first registration in June 1999 to today, I'll email you the average annual fuel consumption.
I replaced the lambda sensor on 03/11 with a Daimler Chrysler lambda sensor (part number A6110940048).
There are no signs of an increase in consumption.

1999 - 5.97 liters/100 km
2000 - 6.20 L/100 km
2001 - 6.36 liters per 100 kilometers.
2002 - 6.3 liters per 100 kilometers.
2003 - 6.31 liters per 100 kilometers.
2004 - 6.29 liters per 100 kilometers.

Total consumption: 5.3 liters per 100 km.

I'm completely lost as to what my next car should be. Everything new just seems to have way too much unnecessary luxury. A new car should be faster and more fuel-efficient, not slower AND consume more fuel icon_sad.gif((.

Danke nochmals für die Antworten. Habe heute nochmals alles durchgecheckt und hab nochmals ne Frage zur VTG. Hab den Unterdruckschlauch mal abgezogen und mal kräftig daran gesaugt. Nunja, wie soll ich sagen, das Gestänge zur Verstellung bewegt sich zwar ein Stück aber dann wirds immer schwergängiger. Sie hackt zwar nicht aber ich muss dann schon ordentlich saugen damit sich da noch was rührt. Ist das eigentlich normal? In den meisten Beiträgen hier im Forum ist immer von einer leichtgängigen VTG verstellung die Rede. Kann es sein das durch eine schwergängige in den höheren Drehzahlbereichen ab ca 3000 dann nicht mehr viel weitergeht? Der Rest scheint OK zu sein. LMM - Werte wurden gemessen, Dieselfilter u. Lu"ftfilter is new, nothing is stuck with the EGR valve, no soot.""It's not the performance I'm concerned about, but the fuel consumption is too high for me at 6.2 liters. Maybe I should look for potential issues with the fuel injection pump. It was replaced once before. Could it be that an inaccurate adjustment prevents achieving the previous, lower fuel consumption?"

Hi,

The further you want to adjust the AGR (Abgasrückführung), the more vacuum is required.
It is important that the mechanism responds sensitively to changes in vacuum pressure, rather than initially sticking and then abruptly jumping into the new position.

If the boost is initiated too late, it can increase fuel consumption; however, in that case, the car will also not accelerate as well as usual.

I have another question about setting the start of fuel injection, as I'm not very familiar with this area. Does a delayed start of fuel injection mean that the injection pump was not accurately adjusted mechanically, i.e., due to an imprecise locking mechanism when changing the pump? Or is it also possible to adjust something programmatically (e.g., by modifying maps or similar)?Thank you again.
