Hello, I'm new here. I hope I can get some help! So, I'm having the following problem. Last week, the engine was a bit louder than usual at around 1500-2000 RPM, and the ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) light came on, which would sometimes turn off and on again. Then, on Monday, I drove for a while, and suddenly the engine stalled and wouldn't start.

The error log printed the following:

Motor electronics.

17656 P1248 035
Injection start control.
Rule difference.
intermittent error
sporadic error
occasional error

19561 P3105 035
19561 / Literature

ASR Front MK60 (likely referring to a front bumper or component for a vehicle, possibly a Volkswagen MK6).

01314 013
Engine control unit.
Please read the error codes.
intermittent error
sporadic error
occasional error

17656

Possible causes:
Injection timing control valve (N108).
defekt -> defective / broken / faulty / malfunctioning
Needle advance motor (G80) defective -> OK, as the target resistance is 80-120 ohms. Actual value: 100 ohms.
Fuel tank: empty -> half full.
Fuel supply not working correctly -> VEP (Variable Geometry Turbocharger) is drawing diesel into the injection nozzles.
Diesel will also be delivered.
(How can I tell if there is enough pressure?)
Fuel shortage -> ???
Funding start not as planned. -> ???

I hope someone can help me, as I can't afford to pay for the repair at the workshop.

Thank you in advance.

Best regards! -ceman

Bitte gib mir den deutschen Text, den du übersetzt haben möchtest.
17656 P1248 035
Injection start control, pressure difference.
sporadically occurring error

A change in the overall engine noise often indicates a misaligned injection timing that can no longer be adjusted.
This also applies to the error message.

In extreme cases, the engine may stall.

With the 1Z engine, there's a common issue with the camshaft timing gear (camshaft sprocket) coming loose (risk of piston-valve collision icon_evil.gif).

-> Please check if the engine control unit is still functioning correctly, or if the timing belt sprocket is loose, or if the belt may have skipped a few teeth due to a faulty tensioner.

It's possible that only the pump, or perhaps its two-piece pulley(?), has become misaligned...

Thank you for the quick response. Is there a possibility that I can check this myself? Or would it be better to take it to a workshop?

I don't know... I don't know you, do I?

According to your question, it's probably more likely to be a workshop. Because an engine is a bit expensive for a first attempt.

Sure. Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.
- Rotate the crankshaft until the piston in cylinder 1 is at Top Dead Center (TDC) (mark on the flywheel, visible through the clutch bell).
- Check if the fuel injection pump rotor can be locked (due to a hole/slot in the drive wheel and a hole in the holder).

Okay, I've made sure the crankshaft timing mark is aligned correctly. Now, the section of the timing belt between the camshaft and the auxiliary drive unit seems very loose, which suggests the timing belt may have slipped. Also, the tensioner doesn't look healthy. How do I align the camshaft to the top dead center (TDC) position? Where can I find the timing marks? Are there any specific things I need to be aware of when replacing the timing belt?

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

'MFG! ceman'

This is a common German abbreviation that stands for 'Mit freundlichen Grüßen,' which means 'Sincerely' or 'Best regards.' It is often used in emails and letters to end a message in a polite and formal way.

The name 'ceman' is likely a nickname or username.

Thanks for the tips. I replaced the timing belt and tensioner -> the engine is running again. The lever on the tensioner broke off, and the timing belt jumped a tooth.

Thank you for the result notification icon_biggrin.gif.

If the engine hasn't suffered any damage (like piston or valve issues), then you've been incredibly lucky, in my opinion.
Are the performance, power consumption, and running noise the same as before?

Thank you for the quick troubleshooting; it was very helpful. Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to tell you that before. Now, the performance, fuel consumption, and engine noise are back to how they were before.
