Hi.

Has anyone ever used a 3C (or similar device) on a train and observed the effects of a laser line cutter (LLC)?

I only glanced at it "in passing," meaning at partial load or for a short period at full load.

I'm interested in how high the temperature will get.

A Golf 3 1Z has already endured temperatures exceeding 30,000 degrees Celsius.

Thank you.

Hi,
Martin, here's my charge air temperature log from my Seat Leon 1M with an FMIC. Everything else is stock. It's an ARL engine.

I know that the Ibiza Cupra FMIC allows the long-term coolant temperature (LTC) to increase to a maximum of approximately 20K μAT during extended periods of maximum speed.
Overtaking on a country road (with leisurely driving before and after) at most elicits a tired twitch in the LLT log.

I own a Cupra myself, but I haven't logged its data yet; the data I'm providing comes from other vehicles.

icon_eek.gif then mine has a problem. It's constantly running at around 16-17 degrees Celsius above ambient temperature, even under the smallest load.

@redr32 So, basically, temperatures like yours, but constantly. Not a huge fluctuation.
What I don't understand about your car is the coolant temperatures of 98...°C. icon_rolleyes.gif How is that possible? Is your thermostat defective? Is the coolant pump about to fail?

Hi,
I've also noticed the issue with the coolant temperature being too high. I let the engine run and monitored it with VCDS, and the temperature rose to 96°C before the first fan stage kicked in.
I didn't think much of it, though.
@devilseye
Do you also have an ARB? What is the maximum coolant temperature you reach?

The Leon now has 102,000 km on the odometer. I replaced the timing belt kit + water pump (from icon_smile.gif with a plastic pulley) + thermostat at 96,000 km.
I've had the car since May 2009.

"There's a new coolant reservoir installed, and I suspect the cylinder head gasket might have been faulty at some point. However, I can't say for sure what exactly was done, and whether there's a connection between that and the increased temperature."

I'm going to test again now. Can someone tell me how to read the coolant temperature on the heating control panel?

Thank you, Best regards, Ronny.

'I have the same vehicle/engine - even the same model year, and the temperature gauge sometimes goes up to 93 degrees Celsius under maximum load. Nothing more. That's why I noticed it. However, my coolant temperature gauge shows significantly higher temperatures under maximum load.'
We also need to create a log.

By the way, is the head gasket new? On that engine? Considering the mileage? Something's wrong. There shouldn't be anything coming out.

"I already replaced the thermostat, but I no longer remember if it's a VW part (BTT) or a Stahlgruber (Wahler) part. I'm not 100% sure if the head gasket has been replaced, but the coolant reservoir is spotless, and the coolant inside looks brand new..."
Auf den Behälter steht ein Datum von 2007. Car is MJ2004.
The electric fan turns on the first stage when the temperature reaches 97°C, as read by VCDS. It then drops to 92°C, and the same thing happens again.
I also had to repair the fan; I replaced the pre-resistance and the brushes.
Only the small, full train was still running.

If the non-functioning fans caused the head gasket to fail, they will likely replace them as well during the head gasket repair.

I'm trying to find out the background information; it might be possible with VAG.

Hi,
I was at Seat today, and they only replaced the coolant reservoir with the sensors back then.

According to the information I have, a coolant temperature of 98°C for a short period of time is not a cause for concern.
Does anyone know when the temperature gauge starts to rise?

I'm not sure if it's exactly the same for the TDI. But on the 1.6 and 1.8 engines, the gauge remains constant at 90 degrees until it reaches 110 degrees!

This advertising platform is different for everyone.

For the T5, it's different if it comes with a factory-installed trailer hitch (or other similar equipment).

@redr32

'Then the coolant reservoir was likely only replaced because of the coolant level sensor. It's a common issue. The parts tend to accumulate oil or oxidize, which distorts the resistance reading that the sensor measures, and therefore it falsely indicates that coolant is low. (The sensor is welded inside the coolant reservoir).'

Are you sure only one fan was running? It's the same serial defect. Usually, both resistors fail. But the second stage, which doesn't use resistors, should still work. I don't think it suffered a thermal damage. But your high temperature was while driving. Why did you replace the thermostat? I still have the original one. Maybe you now have one with a higher temperature rating?

greetings

Hi.
The resistors in both fans were broken, and the larger fan wasn't working at all because so much dust and dirt had accumulated.
I then opened the fans, cleaned them, checked the brush plate, re-polished the armature to a shine, and installed new pre-resistors externally.
Is there a guide available under "Fan Repair"?
I had already replaced the water pump, so when doing that, everything is exposed anyway, so I figured I'd replace the thermostat at the same time.
That's practically a wear-and-tear part for VAG vehicles. Oh yeah, Southern Thuringia.

Okay, please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.

I came by to log something today.

It was 6 degrees Celsius outside.
Engine at 61 degrees, then drove onto the highway.
Measurement started at approximately 90 degrees of engine rotation and continued up to 98 degrees.

Unfortunately, I couldn't continue any longer, because of the people from Saarland icon_smile.gif.
