Hello,
I understand that the car is quite heavy, but with a very moderate driving style, I average around 8 liters per 100 kilometers over approximately 15,000 kilometers. There hasn't been a single tankful where I used less than 7.5 liters per 100 kilometers. The car has 115,000 kilometers on the odometer. Since I've only owned the car for six months, I can't comment on its fuel consumption when it was new. I often read on Spritmonitor and in other forums that people are achieving 6-7 liters per 100 kilometers, which is completely unattainable for me. Even when driving long distances behind a truck, I never get less than 7 liters per 100 kilometers...
For comparison: When driven in a noticeably more sporty manner, my chipped AFN engine in the A4 Avant consumed approximately 6 liters per 100 kilometers.
'The error memory and everything else is okay. Is there anything else I can check with VCDS?'

8 liters per 100 kilometers is almost normal for the stock configuration when you accelerate a bit. I'll send you a private message.
What you can check is whether a weasel might have gnawed on the intercooler hoses.
Best regards, Rainer.

Manual transmission? Automatic transmission? Multitronic? Wide tires? Very good equipment? Quattro all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive?
All factors that influence consumption.
P.S. You can't really compare an AFN to modern cars anymore. MfG. Michael

With manual transmissions and front-wheel drive, this is normal; automatic transmissions, Quattro, etc., require even more.
The car generally consumes too much fuel in its standard configuration, but yes, there are things that can be done to improve it.
Achieving the values specified by the manufacturer is unrealistic with anything resembling normal driving. You'd have to drive like you're taking a whole pack of Valium.
Best regards, Rainer.

Also ich fahre schon fast wie ein Opa, weil ich wissen will, ob's mit weniger Suppe auch geht. It's not working! / It won't work! / That doesn't work!
By the way, it's a manual transmission with front-wheel drive.
The equipment is quite good, and of course also heavy. The fuel consumption remains roughly the same with summer/winter tires in sizes 18'/16'. Interestingly, the contact area of the 245-size summer tires is even smaller than that of the standard 225-size summer tires. I once noticed this when I had both stacks of tires side by side in the garage, and the 16' set was noticeably taller.

I drive my 2.0 TDI Touran, even with the boxy aerodynamics, and it gets 6-8 liters per 100 kilometers.
Something like a compact A6 should be able to move just as easily, if not even more so.
Even if the A6 is heavier than the Touran, when driving at a constant speed behind a truck on a flat road, it should still achieve lower fuel consumption values.
'But those are just my guesses – I have nothing to compare it to. I sometimes drive my 1.9 A6 with a number starting with 5.'

According to Spritmonitor, this model and engine typically consume around 7.8 liters per 100 kilometers. However, as I mentioned, it's possible to reduce that consumption by almost 1.5 liters per 100 kilometers.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello,
I would like to reduce consumption if possible.
It's impossible to achieve fuel consumption of less than 7 liters with just the driving style alone.
Best regards, Karl.
