No water-cooled pistons on newer (smaller) PD engines.

since it might not have been noticed yet,
I would like to officially announce here that the newer...
"The 'weaker' PD TDIs do not have water-cooled pistons (as some do)."
"They had more than was common at the beginning of the PD."

This applies to the 77kW/105PS 1.9-liter engine.
In this specific case, it was a BLS, where the BKC...
ziemlich sicher die gleichen Kolben (lt. It has an ET- number.

It would also be interesting to see what the "2.0" versions look like.
Has anyone here ever taken one apart before?

Just kidding,
A ring groove is located inside the piston bowl rim to provide thermal relief. When the piston moves downwards, the oil jet nozzle directs oil into the groove.
