Hello forum,

I had to trade in my good Golf IV 3-door because I needed more space, and now I have a Golf IV Variant with 66 kW (ALH engine). The new Golf...
Unfortunately, the car already has a factory-installed central locking system. However, I miss my old Facebook account.
I drove to Volkswagen and bought some accessories from their catalog.
'Aftermarket Votex control panel purchased. According to the packaging information, this control panel should...'
'It should be able to access the comfort functions of my car, but it doesn't! According to the description, any windows that are still open should automatically close for an extended period.'
The power button sometimes gets stuck, and the device restarts on its own, etc.
If you manually operate the lock with the key (by holding the 'lock' button for a longer time), the windows will go up.
I've been fiddling with this thing for hours and I can't figure it out.
Maybe someone else has an idea about what I need to do.
The exact model number of the device is '7777'.
Okay, one more question: I now have a red LED on the driver's side door. Does it have...?
Is it an alarm system or just a decorative LED? I couldn't find any information about it in my manual.

Best regards,
Marco

Hi, have you ever reprogrammed the comfort function for the window lifters? (Do the windows still automatically lower all the way down when you press the button, or do you have to hold the switch?) As far as I know, this function is necessary for the remote central locking system to work.
To program the windows, you need to lower each window completely until it stops, and then press the button a little further until you hear a small click. Then do the same thing when raising the windows. Repeat this process for all the other windows as well.
Try it and let me know if it worked.
Best regards,
Gerrit

Hello Marco!
I also installed a remote central locking system two days ago, but in a Polo from the year 2000. That car still has the old pressure-based locking system. Therefore, I'm not sure if my experience is applicable to your Golf. In any case, my Votex remote control has 4 DIP switches on the receiver at the bottom. For ME, switch number three had to be set to the "ON" position after pairing the remotes for it to work. You probably already tried that yourself... Otherwise, try Gerrits suggestion again; it's quite possible that the problem lies there!

Good luck!

@Brezelmann

You are absolutely right, DIP switch 3 was set to the 'off' position.
After I flipped that switch, everything started working again.

Thank you.
