Hello everyone!

What do you think about using the well-known Slick 50 product in a 115 hp engine with fuel injectors? Would it be beneficial for the turbocharger, etc.?

My transmission is making noises (singing) in gears 3, 5, and 6 (both when accelerating and decelerating). Would a transmission oil additive help with that?

Golf IV, AJM engine, 115 horsepower, 45,000 km.

Thank you.
See you.
Razor.

Hello!

Personally, I don't believe in additives or miracle cures.
In my opinion, a good oil is much more important.
For the PD engine, I would use Castrol SLX 0W-30 with a special approval for PD engines.
And when it comes to the transmission, I can't imagine that adding anything would make a difference.
Was wäre, wenn es wirklich noch etwas übrig wäre icon_surprised.gif?
Definitely get it checked before it becomes even more expensive.

Hello,

"Singing" in a gearbox can be caused by inaccurately manufactured tooth flanks.
These inaccuracies can arise from...
- Manufacturing
- Pitting
- other wear and tear.

I wouldn't worry too much about that right now.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi,

Okay, so I added Slick to the engine and transmission (two different products) in my old car, and it worked wonders, even though I'm someone who's not easily convinced by miracle products icon_exclaim.gif icon_exclaim.gif. The transmission suddenly shifted like butter and ran much quieter (the 5th gear ring was worn), the engine was also much smoother (valve clatter was gone), and after two years, it was still like it was on the first day... and almost 300,000 km with the original turbocharger, pump, transmission, etc. certainly doesn't speak against it icon_exclaim.gif icon_exclaim.gif icon_exclaim.gif.

I can't tell you whether that's suitable for a PD motor icon_exclaim.gif. However, it should be suitable for the gearbox icon_exclaim.gif. icon_confused.gif In the case of the gearbox, trying it out is better than just studying it.

I used to use Slick and SX 6000 in gasoline engines. The result was a slightly smoother running engine, but overall, it wasn't that impressive. Later, in a BMW and in my two PD engines, I treated them with Tufoil, which you can find at www.tufoil.com. It's not specifically designed for PD engines, but it works great. The engine runs noticeably smoother, and it also accelerates a bit better. The effect is much more significant than with Slick or SX 6000.

With a BMW I once owned, the singing noise came from the rear differential because there was too much transmission oil in it. Simply draining the oil fixed the problem. You might want to check it, as some workshops tend to overfill it.
