HEX-USB+CAN Adapter Firmware Update: Questions?

Hello,

Hopefully, I'm not already making a fool of myself with my first post... but I couldn't find the answer I was looking for through the search.

How do I update the firmware for the adapter mentioned above? From the Ross-Tech website, I understand that you need to register before you can access the update.
The registration form doesn't accept the "short serial number" that is printed on the adapter.
Is a firmware update possibly integrated into the VCDS software?

The adapter has been working fine so far, but I would still like to know...

Okay. If a firmware update is necessary, VCDS will indicate this, for example, by displaying a message after clicking the 'Test' button in the program settings.
Currently, for VCDS version 908.2, the firmware for your HEX-USB+CAN device is version 181.
