My Volkswagen Golf needs a new timing belt again. I've scheduled an appointment at ATU... has anyone had any experiences with ATU regarding timing belt replacements (positive or negative)?
Is there anything I should be aware of?
Do they also typically control the 'dynamic injection start'?
Hello Dennis,
I had the timing belt replaced, including all the pulleys and related components, at ATU about a month ago.
After that, the car actually seemed to run a bit quieter and with slightly more power.
Subjective!!
The price was approximately 433 euros.
At Volkswagen, it would have cost approximately 520 euros.
Hello. Apparently, the prices have increased quite a bit. In July 2001, I had the timing belt, tensioner roller, and idler pulley replaced on my Vento (AFN), and I was charged 458.50 DM for it. My Vento also ran much better and quieter afterwards!

Hello Dennis,
I don't believe you can judge the quality of the work done by technicians based on the company's brand. It always depends on how many qualified people are currently working at a particular branch and what each of them is doing.
Therefore, it's better to ask acquaintances or friends how satisfied they are with the work of a particular workshop.
