Hello, I have a rather silly problem.
Triptronic detection F 189: Short circuit to positive? I replaced the control panel for the automatic transmission, and also the transmission control unit because it was submerged and the pins were slightly oxidized. However, the error is still present.
"The VCDS system detects the upshift and downshift commands for the Tiptronic transmission, but it doesn't recognize which wire is responsible. What could be the issue?"
Best regards, janek.

Hello Janek,
Please express yourself more clearly! What do you mean by "not the detection"?
Basically, three lines run from the selector lever to the transmission control unit (TCU).
STG Pin | Selector Lever Pin | Wire Color | Description
12 4 gray / white high
13 13 green / purple alley
14 5 green / gray down
Regards,
Guste.

You're welcome, what is "Gasse"?
With "recognition," I mean that it doesn't recognize the gear position for the Tiptronic .

"The selector lever is actually the difference between the two gear selectors (right selector = Tiptronic mode, left selector = normal gear selection)."
However, I also find that the actual detection mechanism is missing in my setup, but I can't identify any further wiring, so I suspect that the up/down lines in the left channel are used to determine the current position, or that the switching is done mechanically on the left side and detected internally within the gearbox.
Regards,
Guste.

Hello, I think I might have installed the wrong control unit. The one that was in there before is 4B0927156ES.
What I installed in the end is FK (presumably referring to a brand or product). Are there any differences between them? Does anyone happen to know?
Best regards, Janek.

Part number "ES" is for engine code AKE.
Part number "FK" is for engine code BAU.
The production period for both is 2002-2004 or 2005, and they have a transmission identification code of FAU.
This is fundamentally not supposed to fit.
Why this now leads to errors in gait recognition, I don't know. I would have rather expected that gear changes would be imprecise, because different torque request signals or similar might be sent to the different motors at the moment of shifting.
In short: You have the wrong control unit. However, I still find the error message strange in this context and I wonder if the wrong control unit is the only cause of this message, or if something else is not working correctly.
You mentioned water in the TCU (Transmission Control Unit). What do the connections look like? Are they still oxidized, or has the contact been checked with measurements in the meantime? Does VCDS correctly recognize the gear, or does it possibly think the shift lever is always in the right gear?
Regards,
Guste.

Hello
Yes, there was water in it. I renewed and rechecked many connections today. I haven't driven the car much yet, as it's still on the lift.
If you switch the selector lever to "D", the error message appears, but it doesn't appear before that. Therefore, it doesn't recognize the gas line at all .
