Hello,

I hope you can help me.

After an engine conversion (to comply with environmental regulations) on my A3, 1.9 TDI, 66kw, manufactured in 9/96 (AGR to ALH), which was successful after a few difficulties, I'm experiencing a problem where the accelerator pedal position only reaches 79%. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any "mechanical" adjustment options on the accelerator pedal potentiometer, or any linkage. However, if the linkage is disconnected and the accelerator pedal potentiometer is manually set to its maximum position, VAGCOM (measuring block 2) shows 100%.

Could the accelerator pedal potentiometer possibly be rotated within its housing (attached to the pedal console with two screws) to achieve 100% throttle? Is it possible to "re-calibrate" it using VAGCOM or similar software?

Are the 79% perhaps related to the new ALH MSG?

I would appreciate any advice.

Greetings.

Hello,

Quote:
Is a new "pairing" possible using VAGCOM etc.?

"No, and it's not stored in the dataset using any other tool either. You're the best judge of whether the accelerator pedal has been tampered with. If you're not reaching 100%, the pedal might not be properly connected to the control unit, or it might be operated differently in the ALH model."

Best regards, Rainer Kaufmann.

Or the mats underneath are too thick! icon_biggrin.gif Or, alternatively, something else is underneath (too long). icon_wink.gif icon_biggrin.gif

First of all, thank you for the answers!

Yes, the accelerator pedal is different on the ALH, at least according to the part number. I haven't changed anything on the pedal itself or the potentiometer.

The floor mat etc. isn't in the way. Today, I removed the small rubber bumper from the pedal, which increased the efficiency by about 10%. I'm now at approximately 89%, which I suppose I should be happy with.

Greetings.

Just buy the potentiometer from an ALH engine. Or, find a used one; it's exactly the same in a Golf IV.
