ASR Issue: Audi 8D/B5 Questions

I've really searched everywhere to get information...

I now own an A4 Avant 2.5 TDI, manufactured in November 1998, and I have a question about the ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) system.
"In my center console, there's a switch for ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation). However, there's no indicator light in my dashboard. When I press the switch, shouldn't there be a light somewhere that shows me that ASR is now turned off?"
Even when I turn on the ignition, the ASR light doesn't come on; only the airbag and ABS lights illuminate.

I would like to know if the car has ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) or if the switch is just a dummy.

When I access the ABS control unit using VAG-COM, it displays "ABS/ASR Front."
No error codes found in the fault memory.

Can anyone help me with that? That would be very kind.

You have an ABS/ASR 5.3 system, which is made by Bosch. It has ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) but not ESP (Electronic Stability Program).
It's possible that there wasn't a separate lamp back then (other than the ABS lamp).
I'm not sure about that, but if it's important, we might be able to find out.
You'll notice whether the ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) is working pretty quickly; just try it out by putting some load on the drive axle.

Could it be that the ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) was simply deactivated in the control unit?
Is this possible?

I don't understand why you don't just post the VCDS Autoscan here. I mean, what's the point of doing something else when you're asked to do something specific, especially if it just creates more work?
VCDS, for example, indicates in the corresponding measuring block (3) whether the ASR switch has been activated or not, etc.
