Hello.
I read in a thread that the TDI engine with 85 kW supposedly has 285 Nm of torque with a 5-speed gearbox and 310 Nm with a 6-speed gearbox.
Does anyone know if that is actually true???
That would mean that VW ripped me off... I have a 6-speed transmission, but only 285 Nm of torque...

The maximum torque depends on the engine code, but not necessarily on the transmission.
AJM 285 Nm.
AUY 310 Nm
According to my records, at least.
I can't say whether the AJM engine with a 6-speed transmission can produce 310 Nm of torque. It probably wouldn't make much of a difference anyway! Besides, most TDI engines tend to have quite a wide range of possible outputs.

I'm driving an AJM MJ01, and it's showing over 300 Nm when checked with a VW diagnostic tool.

Hi,
According to information from Audi (I don't know if VW does the same), models with front-wheel drive generally have a maximum torque of 285 Nm, while models with Quattro all-wheel drive have 310 Nm or more.
Best regards, Jürgen.

Could this possibly be related to the change to the MJ01? I also have a 90,000 km timing belt interval with a wider timing belt...

It might make sense that vehicles with 4Motion would receive the 310 tires to compensate for higher losses.
'But I had mine tested on a Bosch dynamometer - I don't think it really matters whether it's 310 or 'just' 285; my car produced around 88 kW anyway.'
Oh, by the way - there was a thread about corrosion on the rear window guide (the triangular piece, for 5-door models).
I washed my car today, and guess what, it's starting to happen to mine too...
I will be at my mechanic's shop tomorrow !!!
Greetings.
Harry.

Well,
My 1996 Golf 3 is also starting to rust, but it's happening on the A-pillar.
In the first year, the windshield was replaced, and I really believe now that they messed something up while doing it .
Of course, the warranty against rust has expired 5 months ago.
With my luck, the windshield probably has to come out so I can properly check exactly where the rust has spread .

Okay, so I was at my mechanic's shop.
'I was initially informed that the 'rust protection' warranty does not apply to attachments. The guide plate is one such attachment.'
However, the gentleman kindly contacted the manufacturer, as this issue had been noticed before. He immediately knew which part I was referring to.
Let's see .
