Hello everyone.

"I have a scratching noise on my Passat 3C (lowered suspension) when cornering and during load changes. The noise seems to be coming from the area of the left front suspension and sounds like someone is scraping ice off the windows from the outside... but quieter. The noise is only audible for a short time during the load change. There is no noise when changing the load while driving straight."
I have already checked the control arms and strut mounts. I have also verified that the sway bar links and the engine mounting bracket are properly seated.

Does anyone have any idea where this noise might be coming from?

Perhaps ZMS?

Hi,

Take a look at the cuffs on the drive shafts.
Contamination on the brake disc or on the brake pads (stone, etc.).
Check the frame mounts inside the fork.

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

"Sg" is an abbreviation for "singular." It is used to indicate that a noun or pronoun is in the singular form.

For example, the sentence "The cat is black" uses the singular noun "cat." The sentence "He is tall" uses the singular pronoun "he."

In German, the singular form of a noun is usually indicated by the article "der" or "die." For example, the singular form of the noun "Mann" (man) is "der Mann." The singular form of the noun "Frau" (woman) is "die Frau."

The singular form of a pronoun is usually indicated by the pronoun itself. For example, the singular form of the pronoun "ich" (I) is "ich." The singular form of the pronoun "du" (you) is "du."

Thank you for your tip.

I had already looked at the suspension, brakes, and driveshaft before posting... unfortunately, without making any progress. However, yesterday (unfortunately, after the post icon_redface.gif), I found a promising lead here on the forum.
I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.
The sounds seem right... I'll definitely check it out by the weekend.
It seems the noise might also be related to the temperature, because today it was quiet (temperature yesterday -5° to -10°, today +2°).

Best,
Jan

Passat 3C lowered (factory lowering)

What is that?
A Highline model with the optional "sport suspension" package?

Quote:
as if the noise also had something to do with the temperature,

Is that ice that's sliding around in the water reservoir or on the windshield frame?

It makes ugly noises and will disappear quickly at +2 degrees Celsius icon_smile.gif.
