Golf V: Squeaking Noise When Releasing Gas

Hi!

I have a strange scratching noise on my Golf V with engine code BRU, 90 horsepower TDI, manufactured in 2006.

This happens when I release the accelerator pedal in 2nd or 3rd gear above approximately 3000 RPM, and it persists until around 2500 RPM. As soon as I press the accelerator pedal during this noise, it immediately stops.

"When accelerating, I don't hear any unusual noises, and the performance seems normal."

Does anyone have any ideas?

Is that the "Kauder" model that also has (or is supposed to have) 105 horsepower?

There is a modified intake manifold designed to reduce noise.

There's a thread here with pictures about it...

I suspect the noise is coming from the turbo.

I'm experiencing a similar noise with my 8E.

It sounds similar to what you'd hear with a 1.8T engine equipped with a blow-off valve.
Such a sighing sound when the accelerator is suddenly released.

In my opinion, it sounds like the noise caused by airflow separation.

"My car's diesel engine does the same thing. According to the Peugeot workshop foreman, it's just a design quirk and not a defect. The design of a part of the intake air system was changed when switching from the 8HX to the 8HZ engine (Euro 3 to Euro 4), which reduced the noise but didn't completely eliminate it."

Okay, I'll leave it as it is for now.

They would probably say, "It's state of the art."
