Hello,
Some people would probably prefer to measure things statically without using a laptop. I've now created a connection between the adapter and the vehicle using 8 meters of telephone cable (which can then be hung through the window).
So far, so good.
Has anyone ever tried more?

Hi Andi,
It's amazing what's possible... Which adapter did you use for the long cable run, and how are the 8 meters split (PC adapter vs. adapter to car)?
With very high cable capacitances or lengths, the K-pullup and/or the RXD-pulldown on the 2.4 interface will likely become too large at some point.
I now have an opto-adapter that operates based on the 2.3 standard, which actively switches the high and low for RXD, allowing for significantly longer cables between the PC and the adapter than with the previous opto suggestions.
If you're interested, I can email you the plan. However, it's considerably more complex than version 2.4... Gruß Ulf

The 8 meters are between the adapter (version 2.2) and the car. I was also surprised!

Hi Andi,
In version 2.2, there's still the K-pullup trimmer resistor VR1 included.
Can you terminate the dialogue by increasing the VR1 setting towards 10k? Gruß Ulf

Hello Ulf,
I don't have VR1 installed, so I can't overclock it. My friend tested the cable with V2.4, and it works fine. That is to say, the connection between the vehicle and the adapter seems to be quite robust.

I only use the Noxon version, or whatever it's called, and I have a cable about 10 meters long hanging out of my window. Since my cable is firmly attached to the adapter, I've also tested it with two different laptops, and it works perfectly fine. I must point out that the cable has a cross-sectional area of 1.5 mm² and is connected between the adapter and the vehicle.
My new adapter is based on SMD technology, and everything works fine with it.

When I bought my adapter, it stated a maximum cable length of 15 meters. I have an 8-meter cable myself, and it works without any problems. I haven't tried the 15-meter cable yet.

Hello,
I connected my adapter, with approximately 17 meters of cable on the serial side, to my computer. It ran smoothly.
Best regards,
