Hello everyone!
I have an A6 sitting around with the BMK engine (224 hp / 165 kW) that's gone bad – it has no compression in two cylinders. This morning, a colleague came by who has exactly the same old engine in his A6, and it's also broken down now. His lasted about 20,000 km less, so 150,000 km total. In mine, four fuel injectors were defective; with low pressure (250 bar on the test bench), the injection volume was too high, almost double what it should be.
Is this effect comparable to that of dripping, conventional diesel injectors?
'Are there any forum users who have observed an increase in engine failures with these engines?'
'What are the known issues with piezoelectric injectors? Mine have the Bosch part number 445 150 037. Is there a newer type available for them?'
Questions upon questions...
Best regards!
Frank.

The injectors of the first generation were prone to failure and, as far as I know, were replaced. I am not aware of any general problems. On the contrary, the 2.7 and 3.0 engines are considered extremely reliable.

Yes, there are occasional instances of total failures with this engine. Gruß Christian

Hello everyone!
Here in our fleet, the third A6 is currently showing the same symptoms; it's starting to produce white smoke. All of these are BMK engines. The last one literally exploded, leaving a large oil spill underneath. Since I don't entirely trust our Audi partner, what is the current part number? I have some in a 'new' used engine here, and their part numbers end with the index AA.
Where online can I find a resource that describes what happens to injectors or nozzles when too much fuel is injected or the part drips?
I don't want to waste time and money having to replace the engine again in a few months, just because the same problem occurs as with the faulty one.
Best regards!
Frank.

Last week at the Volkswagen dealership in Münster: 6 cars with engine failures, all 3.0 TDI models.
From Phaeton to Touareg to A6 - we have it all.
Don't ask me about license plate numbers or anything like that. My colleague is the head of the receiving department there, and he just mentioned it in passing. I always thought the 3.0 TDI engines were great too.
Greetings.

As far as I know, this only affects the 3.0 TDI engines. In the case of my former colleague, the cause was not determined because the defective engine block was sent directly to Audi for inspection.
According to his statements, the engine failed catastrophically while driving on the highway, accompanied by a large cloud of smoke.
If the problem is with the injectors, then the 3.0 TDI engines, which were introduced before the 2.7 models, would have experienced the first series of the multiple-improved nozzles. Gruß Christian

Step changes in the block or ZK should not be present, as the 2.7 models only differ mechanically from the 3.0 models in terms of stroke . selber schrauben - statt Werkstattpfusch
