Hello fellow enthusiasts,
After fixing the severe jolting by replacing the needle lift sensor, there's still a slight vibration remaining.
After trying all the suggestions related to this issue, disconnecting the speed sensor finally eliminated the jerking. So, once again, the problem is with the fuel quantity meter. In my 1Z, the jerking occurred between 2100-2500 RPM. Using a can of LM Diesel Cleaner shifted the 'jerking range' to 1800-2100 RPM. That seemed like the right approach. So, I invested the 99€ and had ATU perform a diesel system cleaning. Unfortunately, it didn't do anything.
Biodiesel has a strong cleaning effect! Since I'm already planning to have the fuel pump replaced or the fuel tank serviced, I could try running 1-2 tanks of biodiesel. I'm aware that neither the fuel pump seals nor the fuel lines are suitable for this. I don't intend to use biodiesel permanently, but rather to clean the fuel system with it. One tankful lasts about 14 days based on my driving habits. I'm not concerned about the fuel pump seals, but I want to avoid the fuel leaking onto the road.
Are there any experiences with this yet?
Igor.

Hello fellow sufferer!
I've also been thinking about biodiesel. There's not much to lose, really.
I heard that rapeseed oil is more effective! And it's not as harsh.
Good luck with the attempt!
I see that NVE is also experiencing the same problem. How is your 1Z engine doing otherwise? I'm also having a significant lack of power (boost pressure is fine, injectors are new, EGR is disconnected, no soot)...

Hi Igor,
I tried cleaning it with BD (presumably a cleaning product) on my 1Z, but I had no success. In fact, I think that dissolving the deposits with BD might be damaging or making the MSW (likely referring to a mechanical component) difficult to operate (theory: sand in the gearbox...).
The car should not even have been approved by VAG for use with BD. Using BD can damage the tank, the lines, and other parts. BD is particularly "harmful" to rubber and plastic.
Please read NVE's post as a supplement. Gruß Bertil

Hello!
I also initially dismissed the 'rücken' at the beginning, didn't think much of it...
'I've been using biodiesel for about 80,000 km in my Galaxy 1.9l TDI (1Z), and the engine misfire is gone. I'm just curious how long it will last, because according to Ford, I'll be responsible for any engine damage caused by it...'
But, as I already mentioned, I am satisfied, and it keeps running and running...
Best regards, Mike.

That's nonsense... if anything, the fuel injection pump or various hoses would start leaking or break.
It's only slightly cheaper .
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi DocSnydor,
Aside from the occasional stuttering, the machine runs quite well considering it has 260,000 kilometers on the clock. When it's completely cold, it's hard to get it moving at first, but I've gotten used to that. It's gone after about 1 kilometer.
If I want to keep driving this car for a while longer, I probably have to replace or repair the ESP system, and then maybe the engine will fail.
Igor.

@Igor
Older cars are just money pits... But what can you do? Otherwise, mine is still in top condition. It's 9 years old and has 220,000 km on the clock, which you can't really tell. We could place a bulk order for the VP37 fuel injector from Bosch...
I had inquired about it back then. Replacing the ESP unit on my Bosch Fritze would cost €1000, including installation... That's quite a sum of money... If only I knew how the car would perform afterwards!

The thing about the hoses is true, it's much cheaper for me. I pay about €0.55 per liter.
Oh, and one more thing, I now have almost 260,000 kilometers on it...
Have a nice day.
Best regards, Mike.
