Golf 4 1.6 constantly shaking/vibrating

My friend is having the following problem:

When driving at a constant speed (e.g., 90 km/h), there is a noticeable jerking or shaking. We did a diagnostic run together using VAG-COM, and I detected misfires on cylinder 2, and occasionally also on cylinder 3.

Unfortunately, the engine doesn't have the ignition coils that I'm familiar with, like those found in the 16V model.

Where would be the best place to start looking for parts or to begin the repair process now? Replace ignition coil and cable?

The vehicle is a Golf 4 1.6 APF, manufactured in 2000.

Okay, let me rephrase that.

Can misfires detected by the engine control unit also be caused by, for example, faulty fuel injectors?

Checking spark plugs, checking ignition cables, ignition coils or distributor... I have no idea what you're dealing with.

It is possible to see values related to the fuel injectors in certain diagnostic data.

Hi.
Try swapping injector 1 with injector 2, and after the next test run, you'll know what's going on.

I have entered my VCDS license information in my profile... it seems like it still needs to be verified?

We could try swapping the injector valves around to see if that makes a difference. Thank you in advance.

Are the spark plugs, candles, and ignition coils okay? What is the engine code? Everything seems to be in pretty good, diagnosable condition. Perhaps someone knows what you might be able to log there.

To answer your question, yes, misfires can occur in 1.6-liter engines due to the injectors. This shouldn't be a rare occurrence.

As I mentioned, check the error memory. And before you replace anything, make sure to inspect it carefully; it's possible a badger gnawed on the spark plug cable and damaged the insulation, causing sparks to jump out.

So, there were no error codes stored in the system's memory. I could only read the glitches from the data blocks.
Yesterday, we tried to fix the car. First, we used a pressure washer on the engine, which made it very difficult to drive. Then, we replaced the seals on the fuel injectors and swapped them around. We also installed new spark plug wires, a new intake manifold gasket, and a new ignition coil. The ignition coil was likely the culprit as well, because the casing was cracked and a contact was completely rusted/oxidized.
