Hello.
I've got a T5 here with a BRS engine that's broken down. If you turn it on for 5 seconds, it restarts, but then:
- DPF light on (but no longer on after replacing the catalytic converter).
- Turn on the MIL lamp.
- The filament is blinking.
- red oil lamp is flashing (but the main control unit indicates it's okay, seemingly intentional?).
- Turn on the ESP lamp.
- The tachometer is not working.
- The engine idles roughly.
Regarding the DPF light: The differential pressure sensor was faulty, so I replaced it, and now the light is off.
Does anyone have any idea what the error message actually means?

Hi,
Does a donor short-circuit the +5V line? Are the voltage regulators in the engine control unit (ECU) okay?
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi Rainer,
I just found this:
Lo and behold, at idle with the engine running, the boost pressure is 2320 millibars. Disconnecting the sensor will not achieve anything other than triggering a fault code related to the intake air temperature sensor.
Measured the supply voltage:
Temperature sensor: 4.96V
Pressure sensor: 4.60V http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/17036/P0652/001618
Okay, so it's time to check the cables now. MfG. Michael

The G28 (crankshaft position sensor), the MAF sensor (mass airflow sensor), and the AGR valve (exhaust gas recirculation valve) should still be connected to the Ref.B unit.
You can still disconnect it beforehand.
Ref. A corresponds to G40, G79, and V157.
I can't remember the others.
If you don't want to deal with patching and it's the main cable for the G31...1KD 971 658.
I think that might also work for the bus...

You can detach that beforehand, if you want. | You're my hero!
Remove the AGR valve, remove the MAF sensor, remove the lambda sensor, remove the G28 sensor, and then the error code should disappear.
If I plug everything in except for the EGR valve, the error doesn't appear. With the EGR valve installed, it's ready.
Without the valve, it starts immediately, and the tachometer also works again.
A new valve will be ordered on Monday, and then everything should be fine.
Merry Christmas still. MfG. Michael

Final Report:
T5 is already back on the road.
After replacing the EGR valve, all the error codes could be cleared, and all the warning lights are now off.
The actual fault in the valve was quickly identified. The valve stem, which connects to the electronics, was leaking. The electronics were completely covered in a mixture of oil and dirt. After cleaning the electronics, the old valve no longer showed any errors either. The valve was already so leaky that the entire back of the engine, all the way to the oil pan, was covered in oil. Therefore, simply cleaning and reusing the old valve would likely not have provided a long-lasting solution.
Thank you again to everyone for the good tips! MfG. Michael

Okay, a question: Was the oil leak on the rear side of the engine, under the turbo and to the right of the driveshaft, smeared all the way down to the oil pan?
I actually had one where VW told me, based on the image, that the oil supply to the turbo was the culprit. "That would require removing the turbocharger, DPF, etc." GruĂ, der Teileklaus

Hi Klausi,
"No, it all came from the valve. What you're talking about probably refers to the 5-cylinder engines that no longer have oil lines to the turbo, but instead have holes in the cylinder head and manifold, right? The BRS is just a normal, old 1.9 PD engine, but with a DPF and all the other stuff. If something was coming from the turbo, you would have seen it immediately." The turbo was definitely completely dry. MfG. Michael

Okay Michael, I've only read about the T5, who would buy a 1.9 liter engine for a T5?
You're right, it's different for you. Thank you. GruĂ, der Teileklaus
