Good evening, and even though the new year hasn't quite arrived yet, I wish you all a healthy and happy new year.

The title already reveals that the exhaust manifold on my Seat Leon (ARL engine, 112,000 km) is leaking again. Exactly one year ago, the same spot was already affected, which is why I removed the manifold and had it skimmed. It was slightly crooked (for some reason).
Okay, here's the translation:

'Now I've taken a picture that clearly shows that on the 1st...' Cylindrical marks, likely from a Russian-made object, are visible again below.

During the assembly a year ago, according to the ETK (electronic parts catalog), I only used the nuts and seals of the ARL (automatic load limiter) for fastening, as visible in the picture with the upper nut. To my knowledge, the ASZ (automatic suspension system) used washers as well. Having encountered the problem of a leaking exhaust manifold again, I am considering installing these washers on the ARL engine as well.

Does anyone happen to know the exact function of these washers? How is the exhaust manifold installed on your ARL engine? Do you have any tips on how I can permanently fix this problem? (But please, no 'warm up' and 'cool down' suggestions or similar jokes... icon_smile.gif)

Yes, I'm familiar with that from my own car. I had the charger removed and the exhaust manifold pulled off a while ago. I'm not sure if the area is still sooty now.
But it can't be much that's leaking out, because you can't smell anything in the engine compartment, and the turbocharger boost pressure doesn't seem to be affected.
Tips: Well, it's quite simple: new head, bolts, gasket, manifold - I know, you don't want to hear it icon_lol.gif.
Actually, I'm more upset about the crack that was in my charger.

Exhaust temperature too high?

Hmm... yes, that certainly sounds logical.
Temperature in this range is always such a thing, but it works differently elsewhere icon_rolleyes.gif.

What do you think about washers? I probably won't be able to avoid having to remove the exhaust manifold again, or would you just leave it as is, considering it's 'state-of-the-art' now?

Hello,

Before I assemble this part, I check the mating surfaces! If anything is unclear, appropriate measures must be taken.
What difference would washers make if a component is warped?

Best regards, Roberto.

You don't need to do anything, it's just material fatigue, especially after 100,000 km. Of course, it's a high-performance machine.

"Does my car also have 220,000 km on the odometer since I bought it, and will it remain that way?"
Now it has reached 300,000 km, and it hasn't gotten any worse.
Don't let that drive you crazy.
